Hexagon Bag – Crochet Pattern

As summer approached I had the desire to make a bag that I could grab when I’m running out to the store quickly, or even heading to the beach. I personally wanted a cross body bag, but the handle is ultimately customizable to your preferences. Since this bag is made with individual hexagons, you can also make use of scrap yarn. It can be as simple or as wild as you desire!

This bag is made by making full and half hexagons and seaming them together. It is made with worsted weight yarn, and is written for a Main Color and a Contrast Color, but you can modify it to have your hexagons be as many colors as you like. Also, the handle is customizable to be any length you choose. Or you could attach a ready made purse handle for extra stability! The sample size is 11” wide x 12” tall / 28 cm wide x 30.5 cm tall.

Materials

Worsted weight yarn: approximately 400 yards in the Main Color and 75 yards in the Contrast Color. Using multiple colors and/or changing the size will affect the amount of yarn needed.

Crochet hook: US H-8 / 5 mm
Size

Sample size: 11” wide x 12” tall / 28 cm wide x 30.5 cm tall.
